Podcast Episode 7

Ten years of Statamic

Guest

Jack McDade

Duration

55 min

Jack McDade created Statamic because he was frustrated with database-driven CMS deployments. Every structural change meant pulling down production, making edits, and hoping clients hadn't touched anything. He wanted to put it all in Git. Around the same time, Brandon Kelly called and asked if Jack wanted to build a new CMS together. Jack was already close to having something working. They compared ideas, decided neither wanted to build the other's vision, shook hands, and went their separate ways.

In this episode, recorded on Statamic's tenth anniversary, Jack talks about that conversation, the origins of Statamic, what ten years of building an indie CMS actually feels like, and why he sees Craft as a companion rather than a competitor.
